HOW IT WORKS

HOW IT WORKS

Qualify for the National Championship at one of the many National Qualifier races across America. The National Championship will have bother Shrieker and Igniter classes. Pilots will have to qualify for each class they want to participate in.

Each National Qualifier race will be assigned a priority value. This is because a pilot might qualify at two different races. Priority is used to determine which race will be used to qualify a pilot.

For instance, CustomFPV would qualify for the Igniter National Championship through both his performance at the UDL Invitational as well as his performance in the Igniter class at Whooptopia. The UDL Invitational is given a priority value of 1, which means this is the race through which his invite will be given. Therefore, his spot at Whooptopia will be passed on to the next pilot.

UDL is designed to encourage participation at local races, so local races are given the lowest priority, which gives local racers the highest chance of getting invited to the National Championship.

If a pilot, such as FPV Yeti, for instance, were to qualify both through the Colorado National Qualifier and the Great Lakes Regional Final, both of which are considered to be local, priority would go to Great Lakes in this case as that's where FPV Yeti is from.

Some National Qualifiers are considered to be open, which means anyone can attend. Some National Qualifiers will require pilots to get an invite by first qualifying at other local races.

Each National Qualifier will also have its own number of pilots it invites. If any National Qualifiers are canceled for any reason, its seats will be spread across other races. Local and Regional Finals races are given higher seat counts to encourage more participation at the local level.

If a top pilot from a National Qualifier race won't be able to make it to the National Championship, their seat will be offered to the next highest performing pilot at that race. However, if said race still struggles to fill all of their allotted seats, UDL may give the seat to pilots from another region.
